Position summary:
Responsible for accounting functions and financial reporting including the daily financial process oversight, U.S. GAAP accounting functions, accurate and timely financial reporting, budget preparation, capital stock support, payroll oversight, internal control over financial reporting (ICFR) and related processes (SOX) and internal auditing programs for the Company. This position will be responsible for technical accounting and performing research and/or implementing new accounting policies and practices. The position is responsible for preparing and filing Forms 10-K and 10-Q reports with the SEC and CSA as well as assisting with other regulatory and stock exchange filings. The position is responsible for overseeing income and other tax form preparation and filing. The position is also responsible for maintenance of the share-based LTIP programs including employee and director interface and corporate reporting. This position must meet tight deadlines.

- Management of accounting and finance department staff
- Oversight with the monthly closing procedures
- Working with external auditors
- Overseeing SOX compliance including IT and entity controls, including working with management control consultants
- Preparation, entry and review of journal entries
- Preparation of Forms 10-K and 10-Q; responsible for working with providers on iXBRL coding
- Assist with other SEC reports
- Preparation of quarterly accounting memos and disclosure checklist
- Accounting research and implementation
- Maintain bank accounts including wire transfers and check signing
- Compliance with tax and other governmental reporting requirements including property taxes, severance taxes, sales and use taxes and other required reports
- Interface with tax consultants; review of income tax calculations and returns prepared by outside consultants
- Maintenance of and reporting from Solium Share Works system, including preparation of stock compensation grant notifications and related calculations and notifications; preparation of SEDI and SEC insider filings and other shareholder forms with regulators and stock exchanges
- Trustee for 401K plan
- Preparation and maintenance of the annual budgets, including in the general ledger reporting system
- Preparation of reports and other special projects as required
- Backup roles pursuant to internal controls (e.g., Pay Chex payroll processing)
- Regular attendance

Education and Qualifications:
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- BS in Accounting or Finance and/or MBA
- CPA licensed and in good standing
- 8 – 20+ years relevant experience in reporting, tax and accounting
- Extensive knowledge of U.S. GAAP, COSO framework, ICFR, and SOX
- Proficiency with accounting systems (preferable Great Plains Dynamics)
- Mining, construction or similar experience
- SEC reporting experience
- Must be proficient in project management and process improvement principles (e.g., lean processes)
- Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Must be organized and pay attention to detail and accuracy
- Must demonstrate highest levels of honesty and ethics, ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion
- Must be able to identify needs of the department and the company related to accounting and finance and develop and implement strategies to address those needs.
- Ability to collaborate and communicate both orally and in writing with a wide range of people
- Ability to handle multiple priorities in a time sensitive and dynamic environment.

The employee is subject to inside environmental conditions. This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phone, multi-function copiers, and filing cabinets.
Compensation, Benefits, and Application Process
- Salary Range: $200,000 to $275,000 based on location and experience.
- Other Compensation: Potential for discretionary bonus under the Company’s short-term incentive plan (STIP) and participation in long-tern incentive plan (LTIP).
