Payroll Specialist
Position Summary
A payroll Specialist ensures accurate and timely employee compensation by calculating wages, taxes, and deductions while maintaining strict compliance with labor laws and company policies. This role requires a high level of numerical accuracy, confidentiality, and proficiency with payroll systems.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll Processing
- Calculate, prepare, and issue paychecks or direct deposits for hourly and salaried employees.
- Ensure payroll is processed accurately and on schedule.
Data Management
- Maintain and update employee payroll records, including tax exemptions, salary changes, benefits, and deductions.
- Ensure all employee data is accurate, complete, and confidential.
Compliance
- Ensure all payroll payments and withholdings comply with federal, state, and local tax regulations and labor laws.
- Stay current with changes to payroll and tax regulations.
Timesheet Verification
- Collect, review, and verify employee timesheets for accuracy, including regular hours, overtime, and paid time off.
Monthly and Quarterly Reporting & Reconciliation
- Monthly payroll reporting to Union based employees as well as Quarterly Tax reporting.
- Reconcile payroll discrepancies and resolve errors in a timely manner.
- Weekly certified Payroll for all craft.
Inquiry Resolution
- Respond to employee questions regarding pay, deductions, benefits, and payroll procedures.
- Investigate and resolve payroll-related issues professionally and discreetly.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Experience processing payroll for hourly and salaried employees.
- Strong numerical accuracy and attention to detail.
- High level of integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
Work Environment
- Office-based.
- Regular business hours Monday through Thursday 7: 00-4: 30pm Fridays 7: 00-11: 00am.
- Salary is negotiable depending on experience.
