Mobile Diesel Mechanic

Job Summary:

• This position is responsible for performing intermediate service and repair of our tractors, trailers, chassis, containers, and power equipment on-site at customer sites or rail yard using a mobile service truck. This is not a roadside assistance job.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform preventive maintenance and intermediate repairs (tires, brakes, electrical, structural), including chassis and frame repairs, patching trailer and container panels and roofs
• Inspect equipment and document damage for repair estimates and complete associated work orders with proper repair documentation
• Perform AA trailer and FHWA brake inspections
• Diagnose and repair ABS systems
• Operate and maintain mobile service truck and inventory

Qualifications:

• Candidates must be at least 18 years old
• At least 2 years of hands-on mechanic experience servicing semi-trucks and/or trailers or military equivalent
• Clean motor vehicle record
• Able to supply your own basic tools or purchase through J.B. Hunt purchasing program

Preferred Qualifications:

• DOT certifications in FHWA inspections and air brakes
• Welding certification
• Forklift certification and experience
• EPA Section 608 certification and refrigeration license
